If you're looking for second-hand furniture in Spain, you have three routes: outlet stores selling their own stock at a discount, IKEA's second-hand programme, and apps or groups where private individuals sell, give away or swap. Each one solves a different problem. Here we compare them on what actually makes these deals hard: money and haggling, trusting the other person, and no-shows.

Which app should you use for second-hand furniture?

To give away or swap furniture without money or haggling, we recommend Waki. On Waki things are only given away or swapped, so nobody makes you price offers, and profiles are verified. Madrid is where Waki has the most activity, and about 90 new people join every week.

If your goal is to sell a piece that's worth money, a buy-and-sell app is the better fit. For selling things of value, Wallapop. For buying and selling if you already use Facebook, its Marketplace and local groups.

And if you want shop furniture at a discount, the outlets and IKEA's second-hand programme are covered below. The Waki community already has more than 6,000 registered people and more than 700 items given a second life. Downloading it and getting items costs nothing.

Comparison: apps and platforms for second-hand furniture

The criteria are the same for every option: whether money is involved, how you know who you're dealing with, and what tends to go wrong when you meet. We don't compare size or catalogues, because that won't help you move a sofa this week.

Waki: no prices and verified profiles

Posting a piece of furniture means taking a photo and uploading it from the app. Anyone interested messages you through the chat to arrange a meet-up. Before meeting, you can read the reviews other people have left about them and, if something feels off, block them.

The community board and the option to block users exist because the community asked for them. And if you have a suggestion, the community has a WhatsApp group where you talk directly with the founding team.

Wallapop: best for selling things of value

If your furniture is worth money, this is where it makes sense. According to Xataka Móvil, very low counteroffers are common on Wallapop even when the listing has a set price. On Waki that problem doesn't come up, because there's no price: the piece is given away or swapped.

The other headache can be no-shows. Xataka Móvil tells the story of a seller who was left waiting at the meeting point. It's a single case, not a statistic, but it's worth planning for when you meet someone you don't know. On Waki you can check that the profile is verified and read their reviews before you leave home.

Facebook Marketplace and local groups

Best for buying and selling if you already use Facebook every day. INCIBE, Spain's national cybersecurity institute, points out that an email address is enough to open a social media account, so it can be hard to tell whether the profile you're talking to is who it claims to be. On Waki profiles are verified, which removes part of that doubt.

Other options for giving away or swapping

Freecycle works through local groups. According to its moderator manual, what's posted must be free, and each group decides whether a volunteer moderator approves new members or their messages. That can mean a wait.

Olio, according to its App Store listing, is an app for giving things you don't need to people who live nearby. Several user reviews from Spain say there are often few items posted nearby.

If you're interested in swapping more broadly, see our guide to bartering in Spain.

Outlet stores if you want discounted furniture, not from individuals

If what you want is to buy, there are also shops selling used or ex-display furniture. They aren't apps between individuals: they sell their own stock at a fixed price. They're useful if you want a nearly new piece and don't mind paying.

This table sums up what they publish on their websites. Prices are the ones we saw when we checked them on 22 October 2026 and change with stock.

Kenay, according to its website, sells ex-display furniture, pieces from its shops or used in photo shoots in its second-hand section, with small defects and 20 to 75% off. Banak has a section called "Segunda Vida" (Second Life) with its own pieces that have handling marks or scratches, at 50 to 60% off: one coffee table went from €515 to €207. Telovendo2 is a shop in Moraleda de Zafayona (Granada) that selects and checks used furniture before selling it, including garden furniture.

In a shop, delivery is part of the purchase. Telovendo2 shows the minimum shipping cost on each listing and leaves orders over 20 kg at street level. Banak offers delivery appointments and assembly. Between individuals, and on Waki too, pick-up is arranged in the chat and transport is up to you: measure the piece and find help or a van if you need one.

To pay, Banak accepts card, bank transfer, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Amazon Pay, Bizum, Pepper and Klarna, according to its website. If you have questions before buying, all three shops publish a customer service phone number, listed in the table.

IKEA combines three things in its second-hand programme. It buys back its furniture for up to 50% of the original value. It has a bargain corner in store with online reservation. And it runs its own customer-to-customer marketplace, where sellers get a gift card with an extra 15% and customer service reviews each listing before it goes live.

IKEA doesn't accept mattresses, kitchen appliances or other brands' products through these channels. The key difference for you: in these shops you pay a shop price; on Waki furniture is given away or swapped at no cost.

What to check by type of furniture

Living room. Sofas, coffee tables and bookcases are the hardest to move. Measure the door, stairs and lift before meeting. For a sofa, ask in the chat for close-up photos of the upholstery and whether there are pets at home.

Bedroom. Wardrobes, chests of drawers and beds usually travel flat-packed. Ask whether they still have the screws and instructions, and take a photo before dismantling so you know how it goes back together. With mattresses, think carefully about condition and hygiene before accepting a used one.

Outdoor. For terrace tables and chairs, check for rust, the legs, and whether plastic parts are cracked from the sun. Make sure the table doesn't wobble before loading it. If you'd rather buy with a shop guarantee, Telovendo2 has a garden furniture category.

How to get free or cheap furniture without the haggling

If you want to give away a piece of furniture on Waki, the process is short:

  1. Take a clear photo of the piece in good light and add the measurements to the description.
  2. Post it from the app.
  3. Chat with whoever is interested and agree on a day and time for pick-up.
  4. Before meeting, read that person's reviews.

If it's your first time, here's how to get started with Waki step by step. And if you're furnishing a whole flat, we have a guide to free furniture in Spain.

When meeting, use common sense. Confirm the meet-up in the chat the day before. If the pick-up is at your home, try to have someone else with you and leave the piece near the door.
